I'm pretty sure that like the other J & W boards you will have to bear with them as they get the bios's sorted out (i.e. they will most likely get better over time ).
a no. of abit mobos have lots of LEDs for bling for those with case windows but they also have options of several flashing patterns available plus always on & always off.
The current comparison I will be making will be between the Gigabyte X38-DS4 and this board, purely based on price (the X38-DS4 I have seen close to the price for this board, so it is logical comparison). The one I will be making will be against the P5E, as it falls into the same feature catergory as the X38-DS4, but current retains a slightly higher price.
It will be interesting to see how these boards compare on features against price.
I swear motherboard manufacturers can come up with some dumb design decisions sometimes.
The first pic in this thread - the LED and battery would be totally obscured by any top end graphics card. I have enough of an issue upgrading the BIOS on my current motherboard, with this I would have to remove the graphics card just to remove the battery.
Good point about the battery. Not sure if the LED has moved with the X48 or if that IS the X38 design as well???
Any info on these two seperate boards please Ken? Have you got 2 different boards or are they the same, just with differented rated chipsets? (x38/x48)
Normally, for externally connected network (internet), and internal network. Saves traffic collision and ensures full network bandwidth even when downloading a lot of stuff over the internet (and the security that goes with it of course )
At least that's my take on it, not sure why else you'd want 2.
dont really need that much, i've got 3 on my motherboard same as this one and i still only use 2. CPU & GFX fans.
with regards to the LED's my motherboard has 3 LED's which i find very useful. one is for CPU failure, one is for DIMM failure and the other is for PCI-E failure. which i find very useful (thankfully none of them have ever gone out )
Why don't JW work with LinuxBIOS rather than have a proprietary one? It would make the open source fanatics happy, (and even choose this over other boards because of it) and the linux community would help fix bugs. Sounds good?
