Leaking boiler - help!

Check the drain for the boiler - not always external, it can be plumbed into a sink if it's near one. We had a problem with our boiler as my wife had been putting stuff down the sink and caused gunk to build up near the boiler drain under the sink.. Took the chap all of 20s to clear.

If it can't drain it has to go somewhere!

yes its hard to tell you what the problem was without seeing it...when someone tells me they have a leak on the boiler you cant normally fix it down the phone.

could you see where abouts the water was coming from?

if your boiler comes on 'on demand' it sound like you have a combi boiler.

on some of the older condensing boilers the condensing pipe (3/4" plastic) can sometimes freeze by but i would have thought that would have happened when it was really cold.

there should also be a 15mm copper pipe that goes outside which is connected to the expansion/pressure relief valve but that should go outside unless its not been connected properly.

i would have said it was more likely a component inside the boiler has failed.

let us know what the British gas man says.

Mine died this morning, no power at all, totally dead. Flickered to life for a few seconds when I hit the PCB, but now its gone.

Being fixed on thursday, hope it doesnt get below 0 outside else I may have issues!
