Leaving Las Vegas *Possible Spoilers*

Just watched this last night as it was on, and was really impressed by the performances.
I hadn't planned to watch it so I only caught just over half of it sadly, didn't even plan to watch that much as I was tired but it caught my attention.
I'd not really considered Nicholas Cage as a very good serious actor before as I haven't seen many of his more serious films like this and Adaptation, but he really impressed me in this.
Plus it made a change to see a film where there was no redemption of the main characters, it didn't end happily ever after and all throughout the film you could tell it was impossible to do so.

Definitely going to have to rent it now to see all of it properly. Really glad I watched it now.

I was given this film one year as a valentines present, great film from what i remember. I missed most of it last night so i might watch it again sometime this week. It is a hard film to watch though, a bit like requiem for a dream, its hard watching people throw their lives away, although it can prove an ultimatley more fulfilling viewing experience.

When he tries Nic C. can be a good actor. Lets hope he tries this year as he has 5 films coming out!!! he has been busy. 4 more for next year planned too. I suppose he has rent to pay but lets hope its not total over exposure from the man.

Yeah it definitely does have its moments of being uncomfortable to watch but you're right that it makes it a more fulfilling experience. Just made a very pleasant change from my usual viewing I think.

Great film, I watched it in 95' when it came out, more than once. I thought Cage played the part very well, there's some really funny moments too iirc. Makes a nice change to see a film that's semi realistic and doesn't have a silly holywood ending.

Good role for Elisabeth Shue as well, who normally plays quite wet and weak female character roles. Or bad roles in bad films (like Hollow Man).
