I plan to email vodafone shortly to cancel my current vodafone plan. the contract was up in june and i havent extended it in any way. I enquired about how to terminate at the vodafone shop and was given the email address. they said i will need to give at least 30 days notice (my last bill was on the 24th Dec). One of my friends seems to think however that this 30day period is just a "good will justure" on my behalf? Has anyone just left and cancelled the direct debit and what happened from then.

As per the contract you signed, you need to give 30 days written notice to terminate the contract. If you cancel the direct debit it wont be treated as a proper cancellation and they will come after you for the money.

Just do it the correct way.

You will be charged for the 30 days even if you don't use it. It's in the contract, so just write the letter and ask for our pac code and job done, no point just giving them the money and not utilising what you have paid for.
