I've got an Antec 902 and was wanting to get some shiny stuff inside. It's as simple and as shallow as that. I was trying to think of the best way to get it done. The only real lighting I have in there atm is from the antec tri-cools. My HSF is an Akasa Nero 967 with stock fan. The first thing I was thinking is to replace this with an LED equivilant.

I am always uncertain about picking fans though because manufacturer specs are very rarely (is seems to me) accurate (dB level. cfm etc). I recently bought an http://enermax.de/products/peripherie/everest.html?L=2 (don't think this breaches forum rules as it's a manufacturer - OCUK don't stock this atm) since it looked cool and was quiet 8-12 dB (seems everyone agrees on this) the max 40cfm under the specs seems to be disputed though. Not had chance to try it out yet though. Might go for another of these for the HSF or unless anyone knows anything better/ as good from OCUK that would be good.

I'm reluctant to go for any fans on manufacturer specs since they pretty much all quote less than the Enermax fans which leaves me not knowing what to think.

I'm thinking at some point I might be replacing the 120mm case fans at some point so I can use a fan controller on them although not necisarrily a definate but I was thinking it might be nice to be able to use the same fans.

The other alternative is to keep it as is and just whack in some cathodes

Job done. I'm not sure if they'll look messy though.

Any other suggestions/recommendations would be cool.

Thanks guys, think I'll use the cathodes as a short term solution at the very least they're only a tenner and can always replace them.

Will have to wait to get my fan up and running so I can test it. Had to RMA my mobo so not had my fan hooked up yet. Will see how the fan goes, will work well I guess for auxiliary case fan if nothing else, just a bit worried about relying on it to cool my cpu but I can try some tests as a reference to the stock fan on the Akasa Nero.

I can second the red cathodes looking pink view point. Maybe the more expensive red ones look red?

Also I find that the cathodes themselves when on look quite white and very bright. For these reasons it's best to have them hidden and use the resulting glow to light the case. Great for small windows etc but not for fully visible insides.

Yeah just ordered that cathode set. Went for the blue, don't want a pink case, thanks for the warning. Just trying to figure out where to put them. Thinking one along the bottom side of my case next to my psu and one behined the HDD mounts.

How you finding the Akasa AK174CB-4BLB 120mm Blue LED Fan Luke? You using it as a side case fan or cpu cooler? Quiet enough with good airflow?

Im using it as an outtake on the back (blowing hot air out from CPU). It is very quiet and you can only hear it if you put your ear next to it.

If you have a fan controller, when you turn it down the LED's go down with it so it dims, pretty cool :)

Good fan and its cheap.

I have one of those akasa fans as a side intake on my 1200.

I volt modded it to lower the rpms a bit as it was a bit too noisy for me. Although I think thats mainly down to it being mounted on the side. if it was mounted on a cpu cooler or on the case chasis it wouldn't be as bad.
