Heading to Leeds next Friday to Sunday (1st -> 3rd Oct) with 4 mates but trying to decide on things to do during the day and then where to head at the night time.

Staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel (LS1 4AE) so ideally activities nearby or by a short taxi/bus ride.

Have never been to Leeds before so not sure where the best places are to go, which nights are better for certain places etc. Don't really mind too much in terms of music but ideally prefer more trance/dance than rock. Friday will be a bit more of a rush as 2 guys won't be there and ready until 8pm. Saturday however will be a full day so can maybe do a few pubs before heading to a club or clubs later (depends on cost!).

How good is Leeds student union, worth a visit?

So far have spotted PPIK (karting) which is only a mile away and AMF Bowling which is not far either. Any experiences with either of these? Better alternatives?

Look forward to your suggestions :)

EDIT:// Also, how strict are places for letting people in with DC's, Plimsoles or better off with a pair of Caterpillar Boots?

Leeds nightlife is pretty good.

Oceana has themed rooms e.g. indie/rnb/dance etc. Good for a night finisher as is Gatecrasher.

The karting is good. Was there about a year ago, was offered to take part in a 2 hour endurance event. The track layout then was actually pretty decent (dont know if its changed since) unlike most indoor karting places. And the prices were quite good as well when I had a look.

Thanks to all for replies :)

Unions usually only let people in with a library card or NUS card, you may wanna check that out first.

Just checked and apparently all events are open to both students and non-students :) Fruity Friday could be good. Anyone been?

Karting sounds like a must and everyone seems interested.

Nu Bar sounds quite good and maybe Oceana?

Revolution voucher expires just as we arrive :(

Elbow Rooms might be a decent shout on the Friday. Pool, decent grub and usually have some good beer offers on. Might be a decent place to start because you can have a few games of pool while you wait for the others to turn up and the take it from there.

If you like it there I'm sure later on they have a DJ on, but you might wnat to check as it's been a while since I went there.
