Legally Dubious Russian Music Download Sites - Where exactly does the money go?

Just wondered where it all goes... some millionaires bank account or does it fund more dubious activitys?

I would presume it probably just funds some random person, although not to the tune of millions due to the costs. The Government and music industry on the other hand would have you believe it does fund terrorism, drugs and violent crime. Why? "because everything like this always does". :rolleyes:
 
None of it goes back to the artists or their record labels, thats for sure.

Part of it will be used to provide the service (hardware, bandwidth costs etc.), some to pay employees' salaries if they have customer support staff or the like, and the rest will go into the owners' pockets. What they do with that money is entirely up to them, but I doubt they're spooning it off to fund terrorism or other organised crime as the copyright protection agencies would have you believe.

Terrorism, drugs, paedophiles - this is what you are supporting if you download songs illegally. ;)
