Lending money to friends.

Basically dont do it if you are going to want that money back.

1) You will get peeved at your mate as you want the money back
2) Your mate will get peeved at you because you keep pestering him/her about the money.

Simple as.

What annoys me about people borrowing money is when they spend on luxuries before paying it back. One of my best friends lent ~£200 to another mate, but he didn't pay it back for around a year or so. Yet he was always out down the pub, going clubbing, buying drinks for his best mate etc. He was often spending £200 a fortnight on going out I reckon. Meanwhile the guy who lent him the money was earning £15/day as a plumbers apprentice and on housing benefit etc.

Apart from my family I think there's only a couple of people I would feel comfortable lending more than a score to.

It does annoy me when that happends. Not had it happen to me but other friends who have lent someone money. They do say something and get the money back.

Depends on the person. If I had to lend money from someone, I would make a point of paying it back before going out / buying things.

I've had done this before, and do quite regularly. One of my friends is on benefits and I regularly buy him his lunch, but I know that he'll pay me back as soon as he can. And he ALWAYS does without fail, so I'm more than happy to do it. But on the other hand, I've had friends that always ask if they can borrow a fiver here or a tenner there... Obviously with the provision that I'll get it back, but I never do. As said before, don't bother lending money unless you can spare it, or KNOW that you're going to get it back.
