Well new PSU is installed and the horrible noise and burning smell has gone so I guess it as definitely the power supply!
I couldn't say for definite as it was all still working fine when I hastily switched it off last night but it seems fine today so that's the main thing.
Another Corsair PSU for recycling!![]()
I'd be interested what caused it to die. Any chance of a disassembly with photos?Well new PSU is installed and the horrible noise and burning smell has gone so I guess it as definitely the power supply!

Eeek, I had one of those. Its now in my g/f PC.
Should I replace it should it decide to blow?

It's this little tinker...or should that be stinker...
Taken a few apart before, and they are fine if you leave them for a few days unplugged.Hmmm...probably not, I'll have to check if it's still in warranty and even if it's not don't capacitors still hold charge? I don't fancy zapping myself.

My HX520w died recently too. It sparked every time it received power :/
