Were they prone to dying as well?
I've got 4 Corsair VX450s in machines...so far though they have been absolutely fine.

Well new PSU is installed and the horrible noise and burning smell has gone so I guess it as definitely the power supply!
I couldn't say for definite as it was all still working fine when I hastily switched it off last night but it seems fine today so that's the main thing.

my corsair hx620 blew up 2 weeks ago too lol and the ezcool one i bought at the time for a cheap pc is still going strong :-S

I do indeed, they are powering an 8800GTX currently.
Hmmm...probably not, I'll have to check if it's still in warranty and even if it's not don't capacitors still hold charge? I don't fancy zapping myself.
Yeah if it blows I would definitely replace it with something.
If you mean should you replace it before it blows....I can only speak from personal experience...I've bought three - all three have died, two in rather impressive bangs spreading bits of black stuff everywhere and the one described above.
When I initially posted about them dying a good while ago there were lots of people who had experienced the same thing.
It may be a case of when rather than if and if it does go will it take anything else with it?

About right, I bought a HX520 that failed & Corsair replaced it with a HX650, that failed too, Corsair replaced that & the 3rd one... is somebody else's problem as I put it on the auction site & I have a Seasonic powering my rig now.
Taken a few apart before, and they are fine if you leave them for a few days unplugged.

You can manually discharge them by simply, while unplugged, holding down the power switch on your pc, while its connected. Or else shorting out the power pin on the 24 pin cable.

funny, i had one of those blow on me... took my graphics and mobo with it too though

Woah, my coolermaster 700W silent pro also sparks every time it gets power.... Should I be worried then?

I think it was the HX620W that were the main problem.
