Lewis Hamilton to leave the UK

"Over there people don't come up to you, they leave you alone and give you space," the 22-year-old told BBC Sport.

and the tax bill is a lot less

and the tax bill is a lot less

the amount of people that have said that is ridiculous...

He's probably paid more in tax this year than you would in a lifetime.

He's good at his job, works hard for his money... if this is the reason for leaving then so be it.

Who cares where he lives to be quite ******* honest.

Cant really blame him tbh.

It would have got too much for him over here with all the hype and everything.

Seems a good place to live these days for F1 drivers. I knew that Schummy and Kimi loved over there, but I thought Alonso actually lived here in England. In Surrey or somewhere like that :p

Yeah boo hoo I feel so sorry for him ...

Not like he doesn't court the bloody press and attention with all his poxy tele advertisements and now his book ..

Even the story itself is a load of attention seeking crap. He doesn't really need announce to the world that he is going to reside in Switzerland at all, does he?

Hes everywhere at the moment, with everyone wanting to deal with him. The winter break for testing is going to be a very big earner for Hamilton. He will be getting sponsership deals coming his way all the time.

Not sure what his book is about? How hes gone from a kid to F1? I would'nt be buying it anyway :p

Can't say I blame him, although Monaco would be my choice, rather than Switzerland. :)

However, I'm sure I saw an advert for the Stun the other day where his autobiography (blimey, he's still a young 'un!) was being serialized. Seems he's happy to use the media when it suits him, but isn't prepared to accept the downside of selling your soul to the tabloids.

To be absolutely honest I can't really see how he is that easily recognizable. He looks so much like so many other people that I wouldn't glance at him twice in the street. I can only assume it is much more down to the media than the average person in the street who wouldn't know him from Adam.

Nothing to do with being recognised, bigger stars than him live in this country. His wages are about to rocket so like others before him he seeks a tax haven. Understandable I suppose.

Although another part of me thinks he should pay tax like the rest of us regardless that he earns millions. We have supported his family growing up, now he's turn to pay tax to support us but because he earns millions he can bugger off.

Good riddens, arrogant little ****

People are so quick to judge

Hamiltons future earning potential is £1bn. I highly doubt he would make a life changing decision; leaving his family and friends behind for the sake of saving a few hundred thousand in tax.

Being harassed by OTT fans and the media 24/7 would wear anyone down. He is not a Posh & Becks type who seeks media attention; he just wants to drive to the best of his ability and aim to be World Champion. So the last thing he needs is queues of people photographing and autograph seeking when tying to use a toilet at a petrol station etc etc...

The sad thing about all of you lot is that you would do the same if you were in his situation.

40% of a billion is a lot of money :D Not a few hundred thousand in tax.

Dont give me this harrassed balls, he's isnt as big as half the premiership footballers yet they manage just fine. Film stars musicians they all get along fine.

Lots of the brazilian drivers used to live down by the river in cambridge, i've seen rubens a few times and alonso used to live in the oxford area, fisi too.

London is full of celebs lewis wouldnt even register on the radar.

Its for tax reasons, blaming the media is easy. They will be there anyway. DC's old bird heidi something had them taking pictures from balconies is monaco while she was semi dressed in the bedroom.

They photograph them on holiday or where ever.

Since they're from outside UK, media and people did not pay much attention to them as Hamilton.

Until now that you have said, I had no idea that they actually lived in England...that is because there is not much coverage of them apart from what has happened this year!

The media will still be camped outside where ever he is. As I said the junk mags followed him on holiday to take pictures what ever beach he was on.

The intrusion will be no different. The paps will still be in his face, sadly.

Its the sad face of the uk press, they will hound him til they get something big enough to bring him down.

Just wondering...

What is wrong with him moving? HIS money, HIS life, HIS choice.

Also, why is he arrogant? He's good at what he does, and has the confidence, and rightly so. No arrogance about him, sometimes in this country it's like you just dont like someone, because they are succesful/good.
