LG 27GM950B, 5K Dual Mode.

Just released this monitor is matte right, not glossy?

Will probably have a $2 fan inside it too.

5k really is fantastic for working on, the Studio Display at the office is amazing (although 60hz is pretty terrible) so whenever I see 5k @ 27" it really tempts me to get one for home.

The only thing that puts me off is the PS5 / PS5 Pro support. I know it'll output at 4k and upscale, I'm just not sure how that'll end up looking. I could always run it at the 1440p dual option too I guess - but I'll wait for a few here to pick it up and read their feedback!

This won’t be as crisp as the Studio Display due to the matte coating. Matte was the reason I returned the Asus 5k 165hz monitor. From regular viewing distance the sharpness of text wasn’t that much better than a 4k 27” scaled to 150%.

The MSI version is supposed to be a glossy finish isn't it for these 5k Mini LED dual monitors? Might wait to see how that fairs with reviews, I've only ever had shabby experiences with MSI monitors.

Yes, the MSI version is supposed to be glossy, but unless something has changed it's yet to be confirmed that they will release it.

I've only ever had matte IPS monitors, apart from a brief dalliance with a 4K QD-OLED which I ended up having to return so the matte finish isn't such a deal breaker for my use case, a mixture of home/office and gaming. What really intrigues me is the Ai upscaling, if I can run a demanding game at 1440P and have the monitor upscale it to 5K without adding additional latency then that could be really good along, on top there's also HDR which on some games can really make a big difference.

If this doesn't live up to my expectations, I'll hold out for the RGB Stripe OLED's.

I’m not sure where those reports stem from, but they are releasing it. Planned for Q4 release in Europe is the latest I’ve been told

Might be old information from CES, if I recall it was the Monitor Unboxed video towards the end of that segment, or at least that's where I'd heard it. Goodnews MSI are releasing their version, just a shame it's towards the end of the year and whilst I'm generally a patient person, that's perhaps a little too late for me.

Maybe Tim was given different info at the event to me, but I have since checked with the MSI product team to confirm it’s definitely on the roadmap. And it is :)
