LG 42-inch OLED

It would be cool too if you share some pictures how the 42" C2 does look on your desk. I'll be doing that too whenever it's available here. Always nice to see how desk with such tv is organized.
I'm still fighting with myself wether I should get it soon or wait. I mean, my situation is pretty full of bad luck and post-poning it... But it's nice to see some poor suckers ordered it :p

I will do that. Already got a 40" Philips BDM on my desk (or wall mounted above it) and it's a fairly wide and deep desk, so should be OK.
Pretty sure the OLED screen will look superior and premium compared to the LCD :P

Just ask your self is it worth paying the extra £250 or more to have it now vs Black Friday or there abouts. I would personally rather wait.
IKR... Future is unknown so planning usually ends up different so I'll just go with the flow.

I asked myself that and decided that no, it's not worth it (however 'worth' is defined), especially when I already have a 40" screen that works perfectly. Getting it now anyway.
It's not the first time I don't wait on cool stuff, I mean, my other hobby is audio so yeah, you get the idea. Some luxurious headphones next to the OLED screen, hell yeah bitch!
The chance is also small the OLED tv's here will be discounted on Black Friday here and if they do, it would be like €100 off or something. And reputations of webstores is important too.

Good to see I am not the only one with FOMO.
Annoying, isn't?

  • £999 - 42"
  • £1299 - 48"
  • £1599 - 55"
  • £2199 - 65"
  • £2999 - 77"
  • £3999 - 83"
This would be based on the US price for the 55" and 65" options and then adjusting everything around those two models with slight premium at the larger sizes.
According the rumors way back, the 42" should be 999GBP but somehow, either the rumors were a bunch of ******** or the people who said, were high and stoned at the same time.

The € is worth **** so of course it's higher than 999 lol

If it was £999, I'd buy it with the 5 year extra cover (JL) as a little worried about burn in - I'd use it as my work monitor in the day and play thing at night! :)

Worried 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with the taskbar showing may be an issues (although could auto-hide etc...)

Currently have the Dell on order, but still tempted by the size of this!
What about a portable monitor to use for work? Like 15.6" or something. When gaming, you switch to the OLED screen. It's what I've prepared.
Although it's the Lenovo Tab 13 which is an Android tablet and a portable monitor in one which makes it very convenience to use on my desk.

Thanks for the suggestion but I currently work on a three screen set up so really like a lot of real estate! my main screen is 32" 4k so a 15.6" is not an option (for me)

I'm worried the superwide screen 34" won't be tall enough, but due to the price difference with the 42" I've gone for it...just starting to "wobble" a little :)
What size in length and depth is your desk? Or is it a workplace? Mine is 160cm in length and 90cm in depth. Though I have a desktop attachment from my previous desk to use to organize.
I'll have to see first if I can still use my 22" monitor but probably not. I have 8 headphones too. But then again, my desk is mainly for entertainment so I do perfectly understand everyone has their own setups for different use cases.

I've used a few certified 8k one's in the past (for my 65"OLDB9 in the living room), had no issues with my XBOX-X so I'd just go for some cheap ones (~£10 for 3 metres), can't post a link as Overclockers sell HDMI cables...
I'm from the Netherlands so can't order any from the UK. All I need are model names.
Aren't cheap HDMI 2.1 cables crappy? Giving issues like flickering or bad pictures? What about Hama?

Just had a look at my PC on a 65"OLEDB9, and to be honest I'm happy with the text clarity on that (from a useable distance), so I think (for me) 48" will be fine...Given the 48C1 was under a 1k with the John Lewis protection plus (5years), I can't think of a compelling reason to get the 42C2 at £1300 without protection plus, another £140 with it, I know it's a year newer, but other than a preferable size, is there any killer differences I'm missing?
Probably not regarding any killer differences. I would have gone for the 48C1 too as 48" is really the max but it would be a bit inconvencience after some time.

Depends on budget, but kenable certified hdmi 2.1 cables are very cheap and certified.

Also search for FIBBR 8K HDMI Fiber Optic Cables, both these 2 are usually on rainforest the Fibbr ones have been on special promo offers lately and some of the cheapest fiber optic cables going.

True HQ certified, Zeskit certified, Phoossno certified are used by vincent over on hdtv in the past and worked well also. Usually found on rainforest

I myself stick with Ibrah, Ugreen branded cables but they are not always hdmi 2.1 certified but should work, but id be tempted to try the others next time.
Yeah, I've seen the reviews on Amazon regarding the Ugreen and indeed, not all are certified. The Zeskit one is available on Dutch Amazon but it's almost €50.

Yeah, thought I'd got in early enough to be okay, but maybe not. Contacted them about getting an exact update anyway so will see what they say.

Sadly just seen Mr Richer has bumped their price up another hundred back to the £1399 too, was considering cancelling JL order and switching to them but maybe not now..
Why did they bump up the price?? What the hell?

So the 42" C2 LA finally is available to order to I just placed the order and it should be here tommorow.
I could wait till black friday but due to very unfortunate circumstances going around in my life, waiting is not really an option.

Speaking of audio... My Klipsch Heritage headphone amplifier and Klipsch HP-3 Walnut would look damn sexy next to my glossy OLED screen :P
