I mean according to Rtings it was 5000 hours for some burn in and 9000 hours for uniformity issues. These hour numbers aren't too bad if you're only using the TV for media consumption and *not* as a monitor replacement. But as a monitor replacement, people can potentially be putting on 12-15 hours a day between work and leisure (hi!). In that scenario you will hit 10K hours in only a couple years. Linus was driving the OLED as a desktop daily driver. Static windows (email clients, browsers, terminals, etc). He was also not overly cautious, treating it more as he would any monitor (i.e. not handling it with kids gloves). I think if your use case is playing games and watching movies the OLEDs are a no brainer. As a daily driver monitor replacement, however, is likely where the problems start. All that being said, I plan on putting my dollars to risk next year with the 42". It will be a daily driver (12-15 hrs a day except weekends where its maybe only 4-5 hours) so it will rack up the hours fast. I'll try to be cautious with it (reasonable brightness, dark themes, rotating wallpapers etc) but I'm certainly not going to be moving all my windows around every 15 minutes. Will see how it goes but I'm mentally preparing myself to having the display being ruined in a year or so.

For argument sake I only play games for 6hours the other 4hours is streaming 10hours total:) because I like sleep & going out instead of siting in front of a TV/Monitor for 15 or more hours now I'm retired and I don't kit glove my OLED I want it last not waste my money every one/two years:p

And Linus miss the point OLED compare LCD PC monitor they are both different use. Computer monitors do not come with integrated tuners and do not have Ethernet ports that I have seen. he was the only one on YouTube to burn-in an OLED not seen that on AVforums in that short time. Imo it was done to promote his channel and prove his point of view on 48inch OLED

Need some betting odds :) 42" C2 @ £700-900 is my bet.

Was my thinking. Let's hope aorus is terrible at predictions/betting! ;)

:D:DI am not betting:D:D That what they said when the 48inch came out it would be cheaper but it wasn't compare to a 55inch.

In my situation my CX died after 3 months little use, 2 months repair back log, 30 day repair rule passed got an LG RMA code and full refund. JL did not help too much, but did sort it in end with full refund but it required me to do all the admin and chase up work. Costco also only company in UK I believe to do a proper 90 day return clause that would have saved me weeks of headache with JL, everyone else 14 or 30 days which is no where enough to determine if the product you have is really stable or of good quality.

Maybe you had a bad panel at lease you got full refund in the end after chasing it up with JL:) so are getting another OLED/LCD!

100% another OLED, I went back to an Samsung LED 2020 model in the £600 range but got it much cheaper on clearance section almost half, so having gone
Samsung 2015 LED > 48CX OLED > Samsung LED 2020 model I can safely say OLED or nothing.

It was a faulty mainboard, the one thing I don't like about LG is their quality control imo its almost non existent, lots of people had similar issues as I had lots of failing mainboards, power boards and screens dying after few months but usually guys over on the AVforums CX thread. But I will still give LG another chance :)

Easy to replace if you know what you are doing. Fixed a few Samsung and LG TV failed boards but its not for everyone. Still no excuse to fail after a few months.

Has anyone updated to the latest firmware yet? I've just turned my tv on to find that there is one to download but I'm a bit reluctant to, as everything seems to be hunkydory at the minute with my set. My main concern would be if the brightness is nurfed like it has been in previous updates.

I have it, not noticed any issues. The last update turned my brightness to 100. Thought I was stood at the pearly gates for a second.
