Hi, I think that neither of those supports DFC according to the spec. Non widescreen and smaller LG monitors with DFC should be out later this year, as far as I know. Some US models will emerge with the LG proprietary f-engine (similar to LG.Philips 1600:1 Advanced DVM) ... but not sure about the Europe and if or when to expect them. For now, only NEC LCD20WGX2 is supporting this technology, but it's 20" WS.

i think Lg are intending to update the 1780Q in April with the DFC engine to offer 1600:1 contrast ratio, but current models don't have it afaik.

they're TN Film panels so viewing angles are probably the main issue really when it comes to watching movies. The technology doesnt really lend itself well to movie playback either, but it should be average. If you're looking for a movie screen, there are better choices and better technologies, but you'd have to look elsewhere other than the LG models listed

i wasnt to worried about viewing angles as i will be sat infront of the screen anyway, just wondered if there is any ghosting or artifacts when watching dvds, i did read the user review of the screen and the user did say it had average dvd playback quality although i was not convinced

ghosting shouldn't be an issue, artefacts might seeing as it's a TN Film panel anyway. Not really and issue if you sit a metre or so away anyway really.
