Life Changing Movies....and your suggestions?

Being John Malkovich certainly had an impact on me... I felt uneasy for days after watching that one.

The Big Lebowski is a movie that potentially could change your life on the basis that you'll be quoting it until you die, and you'll make little connections to it in everything that you do (possibly).

Up had an exceptionally powerful effect on me, and it's one of the handful of films that can truly be described as 'beautiful'.

Requiem for a dream

stand by me

City of God.

These 4 particularly stood out to me, absolutely amazing.

I need to get around to watching 12 Angry Men (a quick browse of the IMDB page is interesting) and a few others suggested here.

Can I perhaps put forward two foreign films... Pan's Labyrinth and Amelie?

Both are fantastic insights into the human condition, although very different. Amelie is just a beautiful film, end of.

I'll echo The Butterfly Effect, and add La vita è bella (Life Is Beautiful). Any film that can have me in tears of laughter at a scene in a concentration camp is extremely powerful indeed. Hilarious, devastatingly sad, wonderfully inventive. Only saw it this year and I can't believe I hadn't checked it out before.

Wit
Easily the saddest, yet empowering film. Gives a great insight into the the minds of terminal ill patients. A must watch. Really want to see the play it's based on.

American Beauty
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest <-- Easily one of the best films ever
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Amelie
Lost In Translation
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I'll take a look at my DVD collection when I get home, as there's sure to be more in there.

Into the Wild
Waltz With Bashir
The Constant Gardener
Seven Pounds
Open Your Eyes (Abre Los Ojos)
The Motorcycle Diaries
Sin Nombre

City of God.

Brazillian slums/teenage gang warfare. Really, really good.

yes

Also, Battle Royale. this was a paradigm shift to me and to everyone i have shown it to.

Can't say any films have changed my life.

not change your life, but made you think about life. about existing relationships, how you would react, differently.../ etc?

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest <-- Easily one of the best films ever
