Hi all looking at putting some lights at rear of my 42" tv have no idea where to start could you be so kind as to help me out, are they same as the lights you put in the case of pc if so how do you power them?
cold cathode tubes are what they use in pc's. you can probably get kits that plug straight into the mains with the inverder for it built it. or could look for led strips, just a long bit of plastic with lots of led's along it, again probably just get a power adapter and plug it into the mains
avforums powerbuy section! Apollo lights are what you want. They have a small button packed remote and can be programmed into you Logitech all in one remote if you have one. Full RGB too so you can get pretty much any colour you want, and about 5+ presets too!
Plus if you use a white light it will improve the bperceived blacks. Something to do with tricking the eyes.
oh ***** as ya likey tom lol old DIY lol 2 ikea lights behind the brilliant panasonic plasma, i may nick the 2 lamps around the house when mine arrives
Ikea set is called Dioder, either plain white or multi colour. I run a set on my tv and it makes such a difference to the viewing (far more than I thought it would!)
The apollo set is far far superior to the ikea set.
USB hum box controller with up to 6 lights to plug in, full RGB colour spectrum, variable tube lengths to order, remote control with presets and the ability to be controlled via a hamony remote.
Cost me £67 for x4 15inch tubes (inc remote etc etc).
I prefer watching films with the lights off, and the backlight around the tv seems to make the blacks look better, and also softens the burn on your eyes. Really hard to explain though!
Looking at the specs the avforums kit beats the pants off the ikea set, bit more expensive though. Horses for courses (and if I had known about the avforums one 3 months ago I would have bought that instead)
