Line appeared in laptop screen

I realise this probably just means its ******. However, thought I would just ask:

Laptop screen developed over the weekend a thin yellow line one pixel wide with no apparent cause. It first appeared and flashed at indistinct intervals. It is now there permanently. I have obviously tried restarting etc. It is there at POST as well as windows now . Any ideas or is it just broken?

edit: btw Laptop is:

Dell D800
WUXGA 1920 1200
1GB DDR 333
FX5650
Only bought the laptop for its screen :/

Its probably down to a fault with the cable that goes between the panel and the mainboard.

If you feel brave, take the keyboard out and jiggle the connectors to the screen

See it all the time at work.
