Linksys: Router/Modem or Router+Modem?

Hi,
my Netgear DG834GT is a total piece of crap. the wireless cannot cope with the metal steps in my living room and it doesn't work. i tried it somewhere else and it works fine.

I tried a Linksys router and works fine. now i am wondering whether i should get a modem/router like the wag160n or the wag 325n.....otherwise a modem+router like am200+wrt150n.

any suggestions? any difference in performance?

should be the same performacne but generally much easier to adminster, set up and find room for one box.

Do you really need wireless? coudl probably solve wifi coverage with homeplugs (ethernet over mains wiring)

got the linksys setup...f a n t a s t i c !
i get the wireless from anywhere and the signal is always 5 bars!
