Ive always been a fan of this type of music. Been listening to Countdown to Extinction today....my personal favourite metal album and Megadeth are probably my favourite band, but I seem to be limited in what I am listening to lately. All Ive got is:

Megadeth
Metallica
Slayer
Exodus
Machinehead
Pantera
Anthrax

I think I am in need of some more bands to listen to to broaden my horizons. So please list me some decent heavy/thrash/speed metal!!

Brodequin.
Grind as **** :p

Edit: I guess you'll like lamb of god and children of bodom etc...

not really a fan of that genre, I do have Destroy Erase Improve and Contradictions collapse by Meshuggah and those albums are Thrash Metal

Annihilator: Alice in Hell
Annihilator: Never, Neverland
Sodom: Agent Orange
Mercyful Fate: Melissa (more classic metal but influenced a generation of thrash bands, as well as providing the questionable aesthetics of black metal).

There is In Flames and Venom, although they are not quite thrash...

Also, motorhead are speed + heavy metal.

Casmeister.

Not really much of a fan of Bodom.

Just listening to the new KSE album that I got yesterday. End of Heartache was good, but this is quality

Really liking Between the Buried and Me, The new Haunted Album and Jucifer at the moment.

As i mentioned in another thread, a band i discovered recently, Anaal Nathrakh get a big thumbs up from me.

I still dont get this recent obsession people have with Dragonforce, saw them at Download this year and they were absolutely terrible. But thats my opinion of course :)

Also, Panthro i recommend listening to the first Killswitch Albums with Jesse Leach on vocals, if you havent done so already. They're the best ones i think. Much more aggressive generally i think.

*Edit* forgot to mention the masters of the current crop... Mastodon!!!

I'm currently listening to a delightful little ditty by Cannibal Corpse called 'Hammer Smashed Face'.

Movie buffs may recognise it as the song being played in the club scene in Ace Ventura.

There's something inside me
It's, it's coming out
I feel like killing you
Let loose the anger, held back too long
My blood runs cold

Through my anatomy, dwells another being
Rooted in my cortex, a servant to its bidding

Brutality now becomes my appetite
Violence is now a way of life
The sledge my tool to torture
As it pounds down on your forehead

Eyes bulging from their sockets
With every swing of my mallet
I smash your ****ing head in, until brains seep in
through the cracks, blood does leak
distorted beauty, catastrophe
Steaming slop, splattered all over me

Lifeless body, slouching dead lecherous abcess, where you once had a head

Avoiding the prophecy of my new found lust
You will never live again, soon your life will end
I'll see you die at my feet, eternally I smash your face
facial bones collapse as I crack your skull in half

Crushing, cranial, contents

Draining the snot, I rip out the eyes
Squeezing them in my hands nerves are incised
Peeling the flesh off the bottom of my weapon
Involuntarily pulpifying facial regions

Suffer, and then you die

Torture, pulverized

At one with my sixth sense, I feel free
To kill as I please, no one can stop me

Created to kill, the carnage continues
Violently reshaping human facial tissue

Brutality becomes my appetite
Violence is now a way of life
The sledge my tool to torture
As it pounds down on your forehead
