Listening to music whilst revising...

No, I like quiet. I start to sing/take in lyrics with music on.

Don't listen to music with vocals then, I'd personally advise against music with words in for revision anyway.

I need some background noise otherwise I start to day dream...

If my revision simply consists of reading then no i wont have music as I generally can't read and listen to music simultaneously (too distracting). however if I'm doing coursework or practice questions then music actually helps.

I'd agree with this - when I made my post earlier I meant practice questions and that kind of thing as that's mostly how I revise but sometimes you do need a bit of quiet to properly take some new information in. I find if I'm doing maths questions in particular, listening to some music stops me from procrastinating over doing tedious things (e.g. binomial expansions or drawing graphs).

I think it depends what type of work you are doing, if its something not too taxing or complicated then I can listen to music, but I have got to the stage where I am doing quite complex calculations and just can't do it with music.
