Little bugs - what are they?

We have these in our kitchen cupboards, especially in our breakfast cereal cupboard.

I stopped eating cereal because I used to find them swimming in the milk

Must have eaten loads before I looked into the bowl and saw them.

edit : no they're not thunderflies, they're like really tiny woodlice.

Photo of said beastie.

Might be a thrip of some kind, as there are 5000 species.

what are those things that love landing on anything reflective? they are tiny black things that make a crunch when you squash them. Use to get swarmed with then with a hi-vis on.

When does it get so hot in the UK you need to have a window open anyway?

Close window, no more of these things getting in = problem solved.

Its like 30c today! Hot enough to need a window open IMO...

They are def. Thrips/thundeflies from the Wiki description... annoying but they will die or go away soon it seems...

They are devil spawn screen destroyers.

Can't open my windows else they'll invade and destroy my U2410 :(

Got covered in them earlier literally a couple of seconds after I walked outside the house to clean my motorbike. Horrible things.

It's true :(

Have since changed the monitor anyhow, better not get any more

It is annoying, they get in between the backlight panel and the LCD panel.

Some monitors are easy to take apart, if you're brave enough you can lift the backlight panel away from the screen and blow the bug away. I've managed this on 4 monitors so far.
You will void your warranty however.

EDIT:
Found an old pic.

That happened on my laptop a while ago... But it died in the middle, so I still have an annoying black mark on my monitor i can't remove

Well I've not seen it for a while, not sure if its got out or hiding in the sides. I'll be sure not to squash it though, hopefully it'll work its way out. :(

They are the bane of my working day right now. Step outside for any reason and you are IMMEDIATELY colonised, head to toe, by the little ********. Can't stop scratching my head!

:D

I haven't been outside, just have door and window open, yet one is somewhere inside my monitor, fished one out of a glass of water and I can't recall how many times I've felt an itch on my head. :D:mad:

I was going to sit outside on the banks, in the sun, to have my lunch and read on my Kindle. I ended up entombing myself in a car so hot I could barely breathe.

Definitely buying some insect repellent for tomorrow.

Talking of bugs, I'm getting bitten a lot the last few days, must have about half dozen bites that itch like crazy, will have to start closing bedroom window when I sleep. Slept during the day today 'cos working nights this week and woke up with a massive bite on my big toe!

I read somewhere (probably on here) that if they get inside your monitor, you can lure them out by switching off the screen and shining a torch through, gradually leading them to the edge, then shine the torch through the vents. They're attracted to light, so will follow it.

I read that too, tried it but didn't work, so I turned the laptop off hoping they would crawl out or die down in the edges, but when I turned back on in the morning, they were all dead in different places. One on the left side and three on the right.
