Are there any live Metallica DVD's out there with Cliff Burton on bass? The only DVD's i have are Cunning Stunts, and Live **** : Binge and purge. I know they did a tour of sweden just before cliff's death, but is there a DVD of it anywhere?

Yeah theres Cliff em All. Its all live stuff and quite a bit of its bootleg and its an official relaease from 87.

There's a name I haven't heard in a while!

They called into "The Highwayman" outside Cheadle mid-tour many years ago - and got their asses whupped by us locals at pool :)
He was a nice guy to talk to -and he still owes me a beer. :(

I can still remember when the Highwaymen first opened in 76. They had some great bands on including UFO. Every week the DJ played all exactly the same songs in the same order for at least two years before I gave up with boredom. That same DJ comes my house every week and apparently the songs he played were under orders from the boss. He recently did a stint about 2 years ago and once again they gave him a playlist but he refused to go along with it.

The only 'official' Cliff DVD's are Cliff Em All and the Live **** one, anything else is a bootleg.

I know who you're on about, TH by any chance?
When the first Motorhead album came out I took a copy to The Highwayman and asked him to play a track off it. He refused saying it was too heavy  I was gobsmacked because it was a heavy rock disco and to this day I could never get my head around it. I'd love to know his thoughts on it.

Hey, chill dude! :) You will.

IIRC they were in mid-tour and wanted to go somewhere for a beer and just turned up at the 'Wayman. They paid to get in and wandered around drinking beer, playing pool, listening to music and generally just chatting to people. I didn't know who they were, these four guys standing by the door of the pool room, until one of the Brummie lads I used to see up there every other week excitedly tugged on my sleeve and said "You know who that is don't you? Metallica!" Not being a fan it didn't really mean anything to me though.

When I came back from the bar someone had taken my seat (usual) so I wandered round the pool table and ended up standing by Cliff Burton. We had a bit of a chat about what he thought of England, where else they'd been, commented on the pool game (which the singer was losing) and bought him a pint. Then they headed off around the 'Wayman and I headed to the dance floor as Kansas "Carry on my Wayward Son" had just come on. He seemed like a nice guy to talk to. And he owes me a pint. ;)

It is TH and he couldn't play anything that anybody bought into the Wayman because he had a list to play from.

There you go - proof.
They were playing that back in 76 and up until 78 when I stopped going.
<pedantic mode on> Its 'Carry On Wayward Son' <off>
KANSAS are one of my favourite bands.
