Hi, just wondering if anyone can help us.

We recently bought some new gravel for our 60 litre aquarium, we didn't take out the old gravel, we just added the new to the old.

We have just noticed that there are live plants growing out of the gravel, not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing. We have posted photos below for you all to have a look at, so hopefully someone will be able to ID these.

Thanks

Wont be long before the fish start nibbling them anyway. :D

It's good that the aquarium contains real plants, you should have them in there anyway!

But where are they growing from?

We haven't added anything to the tank so we're assuming they must have been something in the gravel to cause this.

I think we may end up loosing them anyway when we syphon the gravel but we'll try not to.

Probably a seed in the gravel has germinated now you've added the water.
Syphon round it until it can establish itself better. don't clean the gravel too much or it will have no nutrients to grow
