The papers seem to be lining up Rafa as the next manager to lose his job, and Jose Mourinho is just one of the names being coined as the next Liverpool boss. I'm just wondering what are Liverpool fans opinions of Jose perhaps taking over from Rafa next season?

Listening to 6-0-6 the other night, and talking to a few Liverpool supporters (friends and family) it seems that the majority seem to think he'll be out the door at the end of the season and it seems likely the only thing Liverpool supporters seem confident of winning this year is the Champions League (which I suppose Rafa's rotating sort of helps with.)

As a Man United fan, I personally think Rafa's done pretty well at Liverpool, he brought you to two finals of the Champions League and won it once and you also won the FA Cup under him, but he hasn't brought you the one piece of silverware that most of you seem to want the most. The Premiership. It's been a long while since you won the top flight trophy in English football, approaching 20 years now, not to mention you haven't won it at all since the idea of the Premier League was conceived in the 92/93 season.

He hasn't really done all that bad at the club, and even if he does bring you the Champions League this year - could still get axed.

Do you guys want to stick behind Rafa or do you think he's achieved all he can with the club with his way of managing a team?

As a Man Utd fan I would rather Benitez stay than Mourinho get the job. I don't think he'll be sacked before the end of the season if at all.

i'd say he's gone to be honest. not until the end of the season but unless he pulls off something spectacular i get the feeling the yanks want him out.

i'd personally like him to be given 7 years so when he still hasn't won the league the old 'fergie got 7 years' routine won't be valid. By that time I imagine more and more liverpool fans will be falling behind the old. 'it's only your good players that are the difference between us' and every second rotty post will be a 'whisky nose' joke.

Interesting straw-poll on 5 Live at the weekend seemed to show that those living in Liverpool who regularly went to games overwhelmingly backed Rafa, whilst armchair supporters, especially those in the South of England didn't.

Not sure what conclusion to draw from that, other than the media image do fans wanting him out is probably heavily skewed by the southern based media.

I can see why the owners are concerned, out of the title race by christmas last year, pretty much out of it by January this year 12 points behind with the possibility that Everton, Villa or Man City may take 4th place.

At the end of the day the premiership is the standard, the club got lucky when they finished 5th and got into the CL because they won it, if they hadn't then the lack of CL money would have been a big problem. If you don't win the CL (even if you get to the final again) and finish 5th in the PL then i think the owners are entitled to sack him, no matter his popularity.

His transfer spending should have resulted in a team that competes in the PL till March/April, compared to teams who have spent less (Arsenal, Everton, City, Villa, Portsmouth, Blackburn), then he is under-achieving given their current points haul.

We are making progress, last season we where out of the PL running around september:p

Problem is, if you get rid of him, who's gonna come in? Maureen wont come as he will go to either Barca or Real, i dont want another manager to come in with another 5 year plan tbh.

Still 4th with a game in hand isnt all bad, considering the run weve had, were still gonna finish 4th above the rabble.

how can people even be thinking that a manager in Benitez position is in dnager of the sack..the worlds gone mad!

how long do you think torres would hang around if Rafa went?

If the press are to be believed you nearly had Jurgen Klinsmann lined up to take over  So its not as if the current board aren't looking to get rid of him is it ?

you can't really not consider the run you've had though because that's kind of the whole point of how the point system works.

you were very good at the start of the season though.

I listen to the football phone in on Radio City on Saturday and there is a lot of desention from the Liverpool fans on there over Rafas team selections. But i think he is a good manager, the problem is the fans are deluded, they think just because of past glories they should be winning the league. Liverpool need to give Rafa more time, look at the teams in the prem who have made good consistent progress and have maintained better it are those with managers who have been at the helm for a good 9 - 10 years or longer, EG Evertion, Mancs, United
