my uncle is taking me to watch this game on the 13th does anyone know if there will be any big named players taking part or will they still be resting.

You realise it's the charity shield... it will be a friendly match (in terms of tempo, most likely), but basically the first XI.

yeh i know its the charity shield. Good to know the first XI as i thought they might be playing Reserves :o
 
They will play the first team player but IIRC they are allowed to make 5 or 6 subs and they will use them, so may drag in the second half.
But with it being a bit of a grudge match it should be interesting.

nope, both teams will want to win it to get one up for the rest of the season, but whoever loses will give it the old "it was a pre season warm up, we didnt want to risk" etc..... It wont be an all out battle like normal though, any knocks or tiredness and they will get subbed.
 
Gave my option to buy a ticket for this away. Going to Cardiff is an expensive day out at the best of times and for what is essentially a friendly I couldn't justify it. Would rather save my cash for the European away games in the Champions League.

And it will always be the Charity Shield to us old timers ;)

Liverpool vs Chelsea, this is always going to be a best players team, no doubt will you see both teams best players despite them being knackered from the WC. For some reason its just a thing between these two clubs that its always close and both teams need a 100% team to beat the other (although, 4-1 was nice lol).

No doubt will you see the likes of Sheva, Ballack, Lampard, Gerrard, Bellamy etc.
 
i think rafa will go all out for this one, his pre season hasnt gone to plan, think he ll need this one to boost the players and give them a boost before they kick off for the new season
 
remember we have a cl qualifier on wednesday so i wouldn't be suprised if he makes the most of the 5-6 subs there allowed

Between Liverpool and Chelsea? I highly doubt that, both teams really don't like eachother and they'll both be out to prove something.

My guess is it'll be just as competitive as a league meeting between the two.
 
Chelsea will be treating this as just a pre-season friendly, it won't be that competitive & we'll use all the subs we can:)
