Living on a main road...do you? Could you?

If you have good windows I can't see how it would be a problem. The speed cameras will make sure people stick to 30 so it should be minimal anyway.

I have lived on a similar road and I only remember it being quiet compared to my parent's house which is half a mile from the A1m

Thanks for the replies guys. Will reply properly when I get a second, madness at the moment.

Lots of sound advice and valid opinion, and yes the noise level is low with the speed cameras but hgvs do use the road a fair amount. I think we'll go for it, I'm fairly confident that we could at least make our money back if we change our minds once we've tidied it up and decorated in a few places, and it is a really good house.

I know i could get used to the noise, I'm just wondering if I want to have to, a la prison comment above!

i do.. busy north london street - lordship lane :) and its fine.. you get used to it quick :) obviously good windows are a plus :) if you have a bedroom which has windows pointing to the road it will be quite bad during the warm/hot summer days

I used to live close to a very busy road and had no trouble sleeping (unless the Orange Order decided to stroll past which was all too often). Since moving away from Glasgow to a very quiet area set well away from the main road I have serious problems sleeping if there is noise from passing traffic. You get used to the situation you find yourself in, given time.
