Was woken up this morning by the sound of emergency vehicles going past. BBC and sky are both reporting an incident at Ashwell prison. A friend who's house backs onto the prison grounds can see smoke and flames coming from the prison. She sent me a picture message that I'll upload in a bit.

What is the main story on the local radio station? People stealing charity clothing bags.

Here's the pic

The fire brigade have left now. Seen a few large prison vans go up there so they're obviously moving prisoners somewhere else. Apparently it all started at about 6am. 5hr later and still no mention on the local radio station.

When I spoke to my mate who works for Leicestershire Police earlier today (to wish him happy birthday), he said he was being called into work because of a major incident involving the prison there, but obviously didn't give me any details. Apparently emergency services were being brought in from all the neighbouring counties though.

Maybe it was fire engines from further away I saw leaving the area then. My friend who took that pic said that she could see flames just before she took it.

Stricter searches on visitors & a heavier lock down leading to a shortage of drugs amongst the prisoners, A few days of being straight & you have a prison riot.

Of course I am only kidding aren't I.

scum tbh...

(obv not all prisoners) - but a decent portion - rioting because they've taken away "privileges"

We're too soft on these people anyway IMO
