I'm interested in starting my own guitar business but can't find any info on how much guitars cost at trade price.

Any idea where I could find out what it'd cost to buy a bunch of fenders and gibsons?

I would imagine that the mark-up on guitars is quite high because they would be a very slow moving line. Even a well established guitar shop must have plenty of weeks where they only sell 3-4 guitars and there are plenty of 'professional' guitar players who only own a small handful of guitars in their lifetime.

The fact you are having to ask the most fundamental of questions for a business already, and on ocuk makes of worry about your business plan or understanding of the market especially if you are looking at fender and gibson.

In simple terms though, visit their website for their uk contacts number. You will need a retail outlet not an ebay store too.

I agree.

Nearly all the independant guitar makers that i know, don't bother at all with how much Gibson or Fender cost. Most guitarists that are buying in this market don't care either, as it happens. It's a very small international market with a very small number of very very gifted makers. To break that market would take years of hard graft, good contacts and some luck as well.

For Gibson you need to put 30k down in a holding account before they'll give you stock, so bare that in mind.

I just wanted a vague idea of how much these things cost before being boosted to the prices they are at.
You worry about me? aww how sweet!
No but seriously, I won't be doing anything stupid any time soon.
I know a lot about guitars, and my dad has run his own business for around 30 years - thats the starting point.

I wont be doing anything that involves any real money until I know exactly what I'm doing - and this may be never.
