Hi,

I've had a quick look but can't seem to find what i'm looking for. Does anyone have any idea if there is some form of lockable seatpost, i.e. quick release but then the lever can be removed? Or is it just best to go for an allen key job?

The reason i'm asking is i've just had the seat, seatpost and decent rear light whipped off my kona by thieving ****s. For similar replacements i can see it costing me near £100 so i'd rather this didn't happen again.

X-Lite make a seat clamp whereby the lever unscrews. There are reliability issues with it though, I've heard reviews stating that the Hope QR is far better etc.

Can't you just use a standard Allen bolted clamp, but replace the Allen bolt with a pin hex bolt similar to this ? I was going to do a similar thing with my Hope light, but I don't commute on that bike anymore so it's not really worth it.

Another suggestion, but I don't know how feasible it'll be. I remember seeing in MBUK many years ago a plug that went into your seatpost and then connected to a cable. The cable had another plug on the end of it that sat below your seat tube bottle cage. You put a long bolt through the cage mounting bolt that prevents the seat being raised - voila.
I'm pretty sure you could bodge a similar solution using a star-fangled nut, some steel cable and whatever junk you've got lying about the garage.

Hmm ok, glueing the seatpost shut or whatever definitely isn't an option as i'll never be able to adjust the thing again.

I think a simple allen key clamp will do the trick as I doubt anyone passing who takes a fancy will have an allen key set with them. This looks like a good option.
