Lockerbie bomber allowed appeal

The man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing has been granted leave to make a second appeal. BBC Link
Many people have long believed that the Iranians were responsible for the bombing in retaliation for the the USS Vincennes shooting down of an Iran Air plane filled with pilgrims travelling to Mecca.

The integrity of Tony Gauci. the Maltese shopkeeper who after identifying someone else, said that he had sold clothes to al-Megrahi, fragments of which were found wrapped around a fragment of the bomb timer.

Some believe that the sudden switch of suspicion from Iran to Libya was the result of political expediency after Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990 and the West desperately needed the support of Syria and Iran.

Good, any question of the original evidence should bring about an appeal.
As for the rest I haven't read much into the bombing so know very little.
