logging into websites

Hi

My laptop cannot log into any sites that require a user name or password it just sits waiting for ever.. i can use the internet normally i just cant log into any sites.

I connect to the internet through a linksys router which which is connected to my main pc which is not having any troubles at all ( how i have logged in on this site )

I have tried for a couple of hrs now to try and sort it to no avail, i have allso reset the router to default settings and still no good.

Any idea's to why this is happening on my laptop ? both pc and laptop are using the same browsers and version.. firefox and IE and both dont work

Help me please

What is the Internet security settings at? Does it allow Cookies? If not enable them and try again.

Hi thanks for the reply.. i checked the settings.. cookies are excepted until they expire, still the same

any other idea's ?

are you blocking https anywhere - normally associated with secure login pages?

Try a different browser, it'll be a setting somewhere, java etc

yes i'm on virgin broadband, but that wasnt the problem.

Apparently my laptop was infected with a Virtumone Trojan, non of my normal programs, spybot,adaware,crapcleaner etc would fix it either

I'm currently sorting it out with help from a guy from a malware support site with some programs of theres

My laptop is already feeling so much better, infact i cant remember it being so good lol

im only asking as i had the same problem your having a weeks back and it turned out i have to alter the MTU and set it at 1492 instead of 1500
i used a program called TCP Optimizer http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
