Logitech Z-5500 possibly fubar :(

Logitech used to state that a 4a fuse was alright to use before they got battered on the forums by EU users who had tried it and screwed their systems because the 4a fuses are just for the americans and all EU users were advised to use a 2a fuse :p

Because what you're doing is irresponsable and possibly dangerous. Has Logitech confirmed it's safe to use a 5A fuse?

No but they havent confirmed its unsafe to use one.

The fuse is a 4A Slow Blow fuse that comes with some systems yet they recommend a 2A Slow Blow fuse.

Isn't the whole 4a vs 2a the fact that in the US its 4Ax110V = 440W while hre its 2Ax220V = 440W... I believe the fuse blows for a reason so its a safer bet to have to stay replacing fuses than go with something bigger.

I tried to tell him that. I would think a 5A fuse is too high for a set of PC speakers. Hell even my 2 channel stereo poweramp (2x100W, 550VA) only has a T4A fuse in it, and that probably draws more than the Logitech combined

Wont the Z5500's draw more power since the AMP is rated at 500W RMS/1000W max.

sigh... just because it says 500W RMS doesn't mean it is. Much like low end av amps ie 140W x 5 but really not..

Has the Logitech set been reviewed by something like stereophile, where they test the actual amplifiers true output?

No, I thought the amp would be 500W RMS tho just the sattelites that are not really 69w RMS etc..

audioholics reviews the system, looks inside it, did not test for output tho.

Unlikely. You won't need 100W of power into a sat speaker with a high crossover, especially if the log sat has high efficiency. Speakers themselves aren't "69W" however they have maximum power handling of " ??W"

Although if the Log amp is class D then it's possible due to lower cost.

Regardless I bet if you compare the Log L/R amp outputs to a 25-W Hi-Fi amp the Hi-Fi will trounce it when tested.

And how much would this Hi-Fi amp cost?

The Logitechs 3" sattelites (TB W3 871S) Are rated at 12W RMS.

Does it matter? If something is brandished with a rating it should be that. Or marketed as 5x15W, 1X25W amp. Of course that doesn't look good. My amps aren't blown out of proprotion ie 2 x 3kW RMS on the spec page.

They are rated at 12W RMS so thats what Logitech should put on the specs, giving them 69W RMS aint going to do them good, so yes I think it matters.

Question, can some subs disperse bass better than others? I mean were I am on me bed when I watch TV the Z5500's in the corner can offer good bass and I can hear all the tones, so they are fine for the TV, but were my PC is, I try place sub everywere and the bass is either too quiet compared to how it is on the TV, or half of the tones are missing, I mean the bass is too quite for how much the driver is moving, sometimes it can be moving CRAZY and its not that loud due to the area sucking the bass away or maybe the way the Z5500 produces the bass. Maybe there is a way to solve this as I said its fine in the position near my TV but I cant lay on me bed to go on the PC LOL.
