hey, I have bought the logitech z-5500 5.1 speakers and I have noticed that for some reason 2 of the small speakers dont work. music does not play through them or in the x-fi program thing the diagram where you can click the individual speakers to test surround sound also dont work.

I have cmss 3d on stereo surround and the slider halfway.

If I turn cmss 3d off the speakers dont make any sound at all

I also have the speakers set on 5.1 in the x-fi program.

All the wires seem correct as well, and I have tried refitting them etc.

please give some advice

thanks,

Roger

I had exactly tthe same sort of problem, swapping connections about I could get the speakers to work, so I ruled out speaker wire and speakers.

The problem for me was the cable that runs from the back of the control box to my pc. It was faulty. I tried my set of cables from the z5400's I had and the problem was solved.

Try another set of leads from the control box :)

yea i seem to have sorted out the problem by updating the driver, even tho I had the driver already I just installed it again and it worked.

I have it on 6ch direct not optical, and the switch at the back too, but with some little thing that is plugged into the optical output. I just left the bit of plastic in there.

I have a new slight problem though. I get an error while doing the speaker test in counter strike. It says error error error in the middle of the room thing. but when I click the x-fi control panel thing where you can click each speaker it now says the right stuff. not entirely sure if my surround sound fully works yet.

Anyone know if CMSS-3d should be on or off for true surround sound?
