LOL moment @ Zebra crossing in Lakeside

No, there are lots of 'sperg lords' on here who's attitude seems to be 'People who don't give a thank you have NO MANNERS and are SO RUDE.' etc etc.

That will just be the pedant in you, most people here agree that a brief wave or nod in the cars general direction is considered the correct & very easy thing to do.

Sperg Lord over and out

Quick question to Arknor. Do you regard yourself as ill-mannered?

I ask because of your comments in this thread, which, to me, would indicate that you are.

Most drivers accept the fact that there is no need for them to be acknowledged for stopping at a zebra crossing and do not expect it.

Pioneer encountered an imbecile, there are a few around, but you stating that "you'd have to be retarded" to thank someone for stopping for you "as it's the law" is simply insulting.
do you thank people or give them a friendly gesture if they wait for the green man at a traffic light rather than just go across the road anyway forcing you to stop/slow down?

when buying items i will always say "yes please" when im offered a bag, ill say thank you when i recieve my change.

ill hold open doors for people and say thank you if someone does the same for me.

ill try not to be in peoples way when im shopping or walking down the road.

but i will not thank someone for waiting while i use a zebra crossing and ive never known anyone else to.

Rather inconsistent. A shopkeeper is there to serve you. Your change is your absolute right. Odd that you would say please, and thank you, in those instances.

And it's still insulting to call people retards when they are merely exhibiting some consideration, just because you don't feel you should. There must be a lot of retards around, including the majority of posters on this thread. Just be grateful you're not one.

You werent on the crossing... I guess you should have said thank you as she didnt technically have to stop?...

Zebra crossings. As you approach a zebra crossing
look out for pedestrians waiting to cross and be ready to slow down or stop to let them cross
you MUST give way when a pedestrian has moved onto a crossing

Zebra crossings. Give traffic plenty of time to see you and to stop before you start to cross. Vehicles will need more time when the road is slippery. Wait until traffic has stopped from both directions or the road is clear before crossing. Remember that traffic does not have to stop until someone has moved onto the crossing. Keep looking both ways, and listening, in case a driver or rider has not seen you and attempts to overtake a vehicle that has stopped.
There be my trolling hat...... :D

Pretty much, zebra crossing works so well in this country simply out of mutual respect. Cars stop and let pedestrians through, pedestrians wait for cars to stop.
In other countries where people are a little bit less mannered it's ends up a competition of who's "right" pedestrians go onto crossing feeling enlightened and get ran over, drivers don't slow down and try to gun the gas pedal and end up eventually accidentally running pedestrians over.

Your case, OP, is simple both of you were in the wrong, bad breeds bad.

She was marginally worse of course, but this "I refuse to be polite" attitude you are giving off is what is making you look bad.
