so if im standing on the corner of a T junction waiting ro cross and a car is about to pull out and go around the corner but instead because im patiently waiting for him to make his move he decides to wave me across hes breaking the highway code?

This is one thing that really erks me with drivers, they all want to do their good deed for the day by allowing people to cross, but when i'm crossing the road i MUCH prefer to pick my own moment than have someone wave me on.

Only time i don't mind it is when it's a piece of road with an island in the middle and the cars are really slow moving (like start, stop sort of movement).

Then don't cross

There's nothing compelling you to cross just because someone has waved you out. Simply gesture a thanks, but no thanks, by waving them on instead.

Christ almighty, has everyone forgotten how to communicate with fellow humans?!

It's not that you can just say yes or no, I'll happily say no, except it just makes you feel a bit stupid trying to communicate through a windsheild with hand signals while the dope holds up traffic.

But the person stood there like a berk is the one being silly surely :p

Come on man, communication and courtesy, basic stuff!

im not about to thank someone for doing something only because they have to either way.... the person has no choice at a zebrea crossing or a traffic light as they are forced to wait, if they had a choice we all know 90% if not more motorists wouldnt wait

They do have a choice. That one of the choices breaks the law doesn't negate it's existence.

A simple shake of the hand or wave is anything but difficult, and can be done in an instant. Alternative, walk away from edge of road. It's really not hard.

same thing can be said about any crime like i said earlier, thank me for not robbing your house or assauting you whenever you see me in the street :D

Is it more effort to stop at a zebra crossing that it is not to? Came the same be said for robbing someone's house?

is it more effort for me to
A push you out the way
B walk around you.

on a busy high street do you thank everyone who doesnt get in your way?

They are called women.

Quick question to Arknor. Do you regard yourself as ill-mannered?

I ask because of your comments in this thread, which, to me, would indicate that you are.

Most drivers accept the fact that there is no need for them to be acknowledged for stopping at a zebra crossing and do not expect it.

Pioneer encountered an imbecile, there are a few around, but you stating that "you'd have to be retarded" to thank someone for stopping for you "as it's the law" is simply insulting.

The crossing includes the waiting area by the side of the road, not just the road itself, otherwise no one could ever cross because who's going to walk into the road when cars are driving across it?

Exactly, I'm not going to cross onto a zebra crossing without even a hint the car is slowing down.

Maybe I'm from a bygone generation, but I always wave an acknowledgement to drivers who stop for me at a Zebra crossing, and appreciate if pedestrians do the same for me when I'm driving.

It seems good manners aren't fashionable these days.

+1

Lot of sperg lords on here with the attitude "if its MY RIGHT to cross then why should I say thank you?!?!"
