I'll catch the Tube then, it's only a couple of stops anyway - worse case scenario is i fall onto the rails in my drunken state
Seriously, walk. By the time you've fannied about buying tickets, finding the right platforms, waited for trains etc you'd be halfway there.
And you'll get to take in the atmosphere of the west end on NYE if you walk...
I'll leave you with a tale of a Russian colleague, drunk, on the tube, before I head off to start my revelry.
Our local City wine bar was closing and said Muscovite happened to be visiting to meet some clients that week. In the run up to the Friday the wine bar had been offering various incentives to drink up their remaining stock; 2-for-1s, half price beers etc. 6pm Friday comes around and there's still a lot left so we, and the other regulars, wade in and do our best to make sure they don't have any stock left come Saturday.
Our Russian friend joined us slightly afterwards on his way home from Silverstone where he'd been taking in the Grand Prix Friday practice sessions. We're doing pretty well at clearing the bar by this point and we're all absolutely trollied come 8pm and have moved on to drinking the dubious looking Chablis we found in a dusty box in the cellar. The last thing I remember of that night is one of the barmaids dancing on the bar, squirting us punters with the drinks fountain while one of the lecherous old brokers was trying to feel her bangers.
Come Sunday morning we're still slightly bleary eyed but manage to rendezvous at Silverstone for the GP and compare stories of the Friday night. We'd regained some memory by this point and I seemed to have the usual Addison Lee charges on my credit card, another friend had a bruised jaw and knuckles and a taxi driver's card in his wallet... The usual night out. Our Russian pal trumps us by pulling out his camera and showing us a blurry photo of Big Ben showing ~3am. Apparently he'd fallen asleep on the Circle line and, despite being woken at various points by policemen, had managed to cruise around all night until he finally emerged at Westminster to take that photo.
So, let that be a lesson to you!
