Is anyone else looking at going? My brothers and a couple of fellow guitarists are making the pilgrimage, there's no word as yet who is in the line-ups for the concerts - last year we arrived just *too* late to see Phil Hilborne, we could hear his excellent version of Tie Your Mother Down across the complex though.

£13 for a ticket is definitely money well spent, especially when you can drool over such beauties as:

Wish i'd heard Tie your mother down. God, i love that track so much. Could listen to it all day.

Unfortunatly, i wont be going. :(

Saturday for us, the dilemma of PG vs JS was a big one but it seems you have to pay extra to see Satch so Saturday it is.. really looking forward to it now and the four tickets for £40 is a bargain. We missed Phil Hilborne last year but we could hear from outside the excellent Tie Your Mother Down cover they were doing.. time to get there a little earlier this year :)

There were so many nice guitars on sale last year, I think I will have to leave my credit card at home to stop any frivolous spending :p Last year I was *this* close to purchasing:

£900 is a snip and they were doing 10-15% off too.. mmm...

Guthrie > * ! :D

I'm definitely going to try and go. I just have to find a means of getting up to London. :p

Look what came today:

They have revised the line-up for the Saturday:

Saturday 14th June

10.30 Guitar Idol Final
12.00 C3 presents Richie Kotzen, Guthrie Govern &
Jamie Humphries
13.30 Billy Sheehan
14.20 Paul Gilbert
15.30 Phil Hilborne
16.20 Yngwie Malmsteen

Yep, Malmsteen has been added too :D

I hadn't head of Jamie Humphries before but am now checking out his myspace page for some snippets - pretty damned good!

Did anyone else go in the end? It was a fantastic day out, my brother and a friend came along too and we spent hours just drooling over guitars..

Guthrie Govan was playing with Billy Sheehan, that was a widdlefest and a half!

Paul Gilbert was cool, he played such a good set I think he was the best of the day by far (didn't get to see Malmsteen though). He played to a backing cd so it was just him on stage.

We queued for nigh on an hour to try to get Satriani's autograph at the Vox stand but ran out of time.. my brother tried using my current ill health situation to move us up the queue with the Vox staff but they were unable to help; I did get given a couple of free t-shirts though !

Obligatory photos:

Me pointing to the guitar I wanted to buy (no price tag though, must have been steep):

Whilst the sound guys tried to fix the cd player (!) PG played a few numbers just singing and playing only:

A good day overall, excellent laugh :)

Nice 'South of Heaven' t-shirt!

Would have been good to attend, but London is just too much of a hassle really. Not to mention, bloody expensive.

That man is a God. Damn.. I wish I could have gone, but my teacher booked me in for my grade 5 theory exam (without telling me) and it happened to be when the C3 set started. The only reason I would go would be to see Guthrie... Ah well, another time.
