I think it highlights no matter how good you are dont prepare for the race you'll suffer - badly. He's one of the greatest distance runners of all time quite why he has to prove it trying to win the London is strange.
This man may have had something to say about that although perhaps a lot of that just comes down to legend. I did hear a possibly apocryphal story that for one of the Olympics his taxi was stuck in traffic so he ran to the stadium before winning the race.
Haile Gebreselassie is certainly the best distance runner I've seen in my lifetime though.
