I think that about 10-12 years ago many of the car creature comforts got nailed, especially in the higher-end cars - as you point out things like Xenons, sat nav and others like heated power seats, remote locking, auto-dimming mirrors, reversing sensors, LED brake lights etc and many of the little things that make driving a more 'modern' experience were present to the extent that cars 10 years old nowadays are a far more attractive proposition than cars that were 10 years old, 10 years ago.
Also I think the advent of CAD styling and manufacturing with the smooth lines, fitted panels and suchlike also makes the 10 year old cars look much less dated than their equivalent 10 year old cars at that time.
