Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a reasonably cheap but good widescreen monitor for gaming. It needs to be between 22" and 24" and full 1080p HD.

I would like one with a black plastic casing / edges so it matches my other equipment.

If any of you have any recomendations that would be helpful.

Budget: ~£150

Cheers

Apologies for cheeky thread entry!

I'm also considering upgrading to a 24" monitor on a similar budget. Would the BenQ G2420 be any better than the Samsung for gaming (RTS games and the like)?

Thank you.

I'm about ot order the Samsung 2333T after much research from the same budget as you.

I decided on this one over the p2450 as it is cheaper (by about £45) and is apparently better for everything except maybe playing games (different panel type).

So if you can live with that then I would suggest the 2333T to save some cash ;)

Yep looked into that one the other day. I noticed most of the ones with a higher contrast ratio has a higher response time usually of ~5ms.

Is 5ms response time OK for gaming or should I go for 2ms?

If you are paying any attention to the manufacturer stated specifications for dynamic contrast, static contast or grey to grey response time you have a lot to learn. But this learning isn't necessary if you just go with the moitor I recommended. I didn't pull the recommendation out of thin air and it is superior to te BenQ inside and out.

Ok thanks :) I think I'll look into getting that next week then.

@PCM2

Why not the B2430L (unless you need HDMI, then the B2430H).

In other posts you appear to regard the B2430 as very slightly better (picture wise) than the P2450 and even with the P2450 on offer the B2430L is still cheaper.

Quite different looks but what looks best is subjective and can only be answered fully by the buyer.

Cheers,

Nigel

Simply because OcUK don't stock these models and I don't like to recommend things that they don't stock too heavily (especially around Christmas). There is really very little between them and the main deciding factor for most people will be aesthetics - that is a real strength of the P2450H for a lot of people. It's the main reason you can still buy it.
