Looking for a 4k TV 55 - 60"

I'm looking for a new gaming TV and this is one I'm considering.. however there is a little confusion over HDR.

Digital Foundry did a test of TV's and for this one they said that HDR was not available in Game Mode and only available in Movie mode, the problem then being that the Input lag was very high and not really suitable for gaming.

Some people have suggested that has been fixed in a recent firmware but seen no confirmation - I have emailed Samsung for clarification. It's a rather important factor for me as I'll be using it with the PS4 Pro etc.

As you have the TV, are you able to test this?

Apparently Samsung has put out a firmware fix for all their 2016 SUHD HDR TVs for the input lag with game mode HDR etc:

RE HDR gaming,

High-dynamic-range video (HDR video) is greater than standard dynamic range (SDR) video which uses a conventional gamma curve.[3]

High-dynamic-range rendering (HDRR) is the real-time rendering and display of virtual environments using a dynamic range of 65,535:1 or higher (used in computer, gaming, and entertainment technology).[4]

HDRR was previously referred to as being HDR in games.

Are you confusing your HDR's? As most games are designed for 8 bit panels and not 10 bitl ike video HDR.

Loads of superb info here;

I went for this in the - SAMSUNG - UE55KS8000 Smart 4k Ultra HD HDR 55" LED TV

Basically its the flat version of the 9000 series tiny bit out your budget range at £1700 ish

But its amazing has twin satellite tuners built in so unless your on sky you can do away with set top box's as well.

I game on mine using a x99 htpc with 1080 and its jaw dropping the graphics to be honest

going to try out the HDR mode with the new ps4 4.00 update and see if there's any noticeable lag will let u know....
