I am a complete noob when it comes ro gaming rigs I know some basics but I wish to convert myaelf from a Console Peasent to thr Ellusive PC Master Race (a lame joke).

My budget is £1500.

My goals for an ideal rig;

Super fast speeds, like make my PS5 look like a joke for booting up and playing games (game updates not withstanding)... or close to. My dying laptop takes 2-5mins to get ready longer even.

Future Upgradability. I'd like this machine to die at the ripe old age of 10... longer if upgrading is a good sourse of longevity.

To play most games (for the forseeable future, I think Red Dead Redemption 2 would be a good enough benchmark...) but preferably stability and performance over graphica and fps.

Notes.... I have a Mouse and Keyboard. I currently have and will be using my 4k 60inch SmartTV (I know the horror, but its only til i get around to creating a battlestation for myself with either 2 monitors or a curved 144hz 4K 20inch monitor.

Ideally Id like to be able to just set it up and incorporate it into my current console set up... plug in and play, if you will...

I dont care about flashing lights and RGB ********. That just distracts my eyes.

I think id prefer AMD over Intel, 32GB ram seems better than 16gb but I'm sure that can be an easy future upgrade. SSD size I hope to upgrade to 2TB but honestly I think Ill survive with 512ssd... if its an easy fix to up it later on...

How easy and much is it to future change from fan cooling to water cooling?

I think I just described a £3k rig...

I was looking at this Lenuvo Legion S7 laptop for £1600... thats 32gb amd rtx3070... ao if theres an equivelent rig for a similar price thatd be great...

Feel free to link options and thank you in advance for your help, advice and recomendations.... perhaps by the time I get a rig my budget would reach 2k.

This is the sort of system you can get if you build an AMD based PC from parts.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,503.17 (includes shipping: £12.30)

It is ok but the 6600XT is not great and you would have to install Windows yourself. There is a fair few compromises to get it within your budget.

If you went for a prebuild then there is this option.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Sabre - Intel 12th Gen i5, RTX 3070Ti Gaming PC = £1,715.02
    • Processor:*Build* INTEL CORE I5-12600KF 3.70GHZ SKTLGA1700 20.00MB CACHE TRAY
    • Memory:Team Group Vulcan Z T-Force 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - Grey
    • M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD) 1 - Primary:WD Black SN750 SE 1TB SSD M.2 2280 NVME PCI-E Gen4 Solid State Drive (WDS100T1B0E)
    • M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD) 2 - Secondary:Unwanted
    • 2.5" Solid State Drive (SSD) - Storage:Unwanted
    • Operating System:Unwanted
    • Security Software:Unwanted
    • Case:Phanteks Eclipse P400 Air Midi Tower DRGB Case - White
    • Graphics Card:*Build Stock* MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Ventus 3X LHR 8GB GDDR6X Graphics Card
Total: £1,729.12 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Much better gpu and faster SSD as well, you would want to ring up and get them to change the PSU to a 80plus Gold unit from a more respectable PSU manufacturere such as Seasonic or Corsair. I removed windows to get it closer to your budget so you would have to install it yourself. IMHO this prebuilt PC is worth the extra money over the self build I listed above.

One that fits in your budget.

Total: £1,478.10 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Add one of these later

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £380.69 (includes shipping: £11.70)

4k high refresh screens are hideously expensive atm. 2K is a good compromise.

I'd take the sabre prebuild...12600k compareable to 5800X, tomahawk mobo can take 4 m.2 nvme ssd's for future upgradeabilty and pcie gen5 gpu slot for future upgrade down the line, and 3070ti best gpu out of 6600XT, 3060ti from other builds.
You can phone and change to any case you want and as Haz123 says, swap the psu for something decent...downside overbudget but worth it I think
