I wouldn't give a vote for Just cause 2. It's a fun game here and there for an hour or so but its not a great game you can involved in, just passes the time by blowing stuff up..

I'd go for more metro 2033, or mass effect 1&2 (played in order). These are much more enjoyable and lengthy games :)

I loved Metro 2033, such a good storyline ! Beware there is a couple of endings, make sure you do a little research to get the best ending imo :)

Also CIV 5 is pretty good, I've been playing it for days, don't always listen to reviews bro ! If you like that sort of game, try Tropico 3, its not amazing but I like it.

If you like fallout 3, the fallout new Vegas is brilliant, I played that for 2 weeks non stop over Christmas :P
 
Company of heroes vote here + its expansions such an amazing single player experience and the multilayer had kept me playing since it started.

Mafia II is short but brilliant in my opinion

Assassins Creed II is pretty long for the genre type and has everything, highly recommended

It would be wise to use a wired Xbox 360 controller for both games though.
 
i will probably at some point get new vegas but im not yet much through fallout 3 yet lol

anno looks good but one thing i really like about civ 4 and before is the whole history not just a part, ill have to check some reviews on that one

a lot of people i know personally have xbox360 and love assassins creed 2 - i do have a black wireless 360 controller for pc from f12010

one vote for stalker 2, which i have heard of.. ill check it out too

I keep hearing this... I didn't think it was short at all, it was longer than loads of other SP campaigns. I think people just expected/wanted it to be longer because of its open world, but there was nothing else to do in it anyway.
 
Metro 2033 is definitely worth picking up cheap even if it is a little short, it was much better than I expected from the reviews. Apart from that you can't go wrong with Mass Effect 1 & 2.
 
Definitely the mass effect games, good length and story to each of them. Everyone should at least give them a go and I'll continually suggest them in any new game to play thread :D

Borderlands, but only if you have a few mates to run around with, not as good on your norm, but still a laugh.

Metro 2033 is good, but haven't really managed to get into it, was worth the fiver I paid though.

If you want something that isn't linear like Metro, then go with a stalker game.

I can't see half life 2 on that list, so orange box is a must!

ok i have one £5 gift voucher to use i can get stalker Chernobyl + clear sky for that or mass effect 1, most people are saying one of those or maybe assassins creed,

ive also used another £5 voucher and gone for metro 2033

i have halo 2 :)
 
one further point, i have been reviewing reviews of mass effect 1 and have seen the drm issue come up again and again.. some have said it stops daemon tools working? is it as bad as this? if so i cannot get it, i use virtual drives a lot for mounting backup blu ray and dvd isos
