I'm looking to replace a Maxtor Diamondplus 9, 160GB. It's for a fairly old PC so I'm worried about getting something overly complicated and confusing things. A direct replacement would be ideal, but I read that many people have had similar problems with these maxtor drives, so I'm looking for a more reliable equivalent.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can't go wrong with any of them really now. All of the vendors have "Friday night" drives but it doesn't mean they're bad as a whole. Speed wise you can't go wrong with WD or Seagate.

500GB drives are silly cheap at the moment so good time to buy.
