Hi,

I'm in the process of getting a new pc B550/5600x, but it will use a 1060 6GB card for maybe the next 12 months or so.

Anyway, my current monitor is this:
https://www.samsung.com/africa_en/monitors/flat/led-monitor-24-inch-ls24d590pl-af/

My use is along the lines of:
80% Home/Business (Excel/Browser/YouTube)
20% Gaming (WoW/Diablo/DOOM etc..)

I'm looking for a 24-27 type of size.
But I'm unsure about the whole IPS/VA, Refresh rate and Freesync side of things.

I'm definitely not heavily into games, but want a decent experience when I play.
Budget is probably around £200, but maybe I need to up that?

Any suggestions of what I should look at?

Do you rather image smoothness or color accuracy? cuz I guess with this budget you'll have to choose one, since you want a 27"
Also, if I was you, I'd rather get a 1440p, 27" that is futureproofed, and you already have a 1080p 24".

Hi,

Thanks for the input. I would rather image smoothness. I'm also fine with a 24" if that would make much difference.
I only use one monitor, I'm unlikely to use 2. I hope in about 12 months to get a high end(ish) AMD GPU- not sure if freesync is a consideration here?

Thanks.

Well, so assuming that you still want a 1080p, 24" I suggest you check the one I was using previously the Asus VP249QGR, https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...een-led-backlit-gaming-monitor-mo-0au-as.html. You can check its review here: https://reatbyte.com/2020/08/07/best-under-budget-monitor-around-200-asus-vp249qgr/
It has 144hz and also IPS with freesync support. The only downside is that it is only 1080p. It is currently £179.99
Again, I wouldn't go with that one because it wouldn't be an "upgrade" at all.
