Looking for an AM3 Motherboard

Hey guys, been floating around the forums a fair bit as I'm throwing together a new build.

I'm now down to choosing a motherboard and memory, I have £150 left to spend an I'm wondering if I can get anything decent, or if I should add a bit more memory on my current board.

What I have now is a Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 motherboard with 4GB's of XMS2 DDR2 RAM by Corsair.

What I'm wanting to do eventually is go crossfire with another 6950 and Eyefinity.
My current board doesn't support crossfire, going for crossfire won't be for a while yet, but anyways...

Combining an AM3 motherboard with say, the XMS3 DDR3 4GB sticks (or other memory)... would it be worth upgrading, or throwing a couple more sticks of XMS2 in my current board?

I'm using this build for gaming and recording gameplay and little bit of web-design an such.

Gigabyte Motherboards are very much ideal for gaming for recording game play. however, IMO, throwing a couple more sticks of XMS2 in your existing board, if you want a board that supports crossfire, then you should either change your motherboard or upgrade it with XMS3 DDR3 4GB sticks. It will be worth upgrading your existing board.

You could hang around until Bulldozer arrives. You won't see a benefit from switching boards (not noticably) and when Bulldozer arrives AM3 boards (they are not compatible) will drop in price, and be available second hand.

As for the memory, you might not see a great deal of difference with an extra 4GB either. I wish I could tell you more exactly, but it does depend on the way you use the system. I'm also guessing that you're running a 64 bit OS, as if you are not 32 bit OS cannot access anything over 3.5 or there abouts.

So I'd say it's not worth upgrading now, you wouldn't see much of a benefit. Keep the cash until you're ready to go crossfire and look at the situation then.

Hey guys, I decided to opt for the Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 and an AMD 1090T X6 CPU as I've got the money to upgrade with a good bit left :)

It's been an interesting week, mainly started out thinking I'd need to save parts, but now I have an entire new PC with a new case.

Thank you for the help any how :)
