I have 3 Dell 24" 1080p monitors. I want to replace the central one. Mostly use it for watching Youtube and Twitch, and a little bit of train sim/racing sim.

So I've heard 4K in Windows is rubbish, so maybe go for a 1440p?

  • 27" Dell UltraSharp U2719D
  • 27" ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q
  • 31.5" Dell UltraSharp U3219Q 4K
  • Acer 27" Predator XB271HK 4K
  • BenQ EW3280U

With the scaling options in Windows 10 a 4K monitor is ok. Let’s put it this way 27” iMac’s run a 5120x2880 resolution which is scaled like you do with a 4K monitor in Windows and it’s fine.

1440p works well @ 27" without any scaling. Everything is smaller/sharper than 1080p @ 24" but still legible.

I'd want a larger panel before going to 4K.

The scaling on Windows 10 is much better than on previous versions of Windows, but still not perfect.

Dell S2721DGF - 1440p, G-Sync, IPS panel, 165Hz...

Can be had for £331 from Dell direct with an NHS/Student discount code :)

That looks a nice one, cant get it for £331 but £350 brand new.

Do you not know anyone with NHS/Student discount?

If you decide you want one, drop me a PM and I have a spare NHS code you can have so it’s £331 :)

I already have a 10% discount, you get more??

Yes - the S monitors you can get 15% off. If you can claim the discount codes, the ones I claimed emailed me a batch for different monitors and laptops.

If you use the one called "15% Off S & P Monitors" it makes it £331.49. Like I said happy to share one I have spare, if you can't get one. :)

That Dell monitor shows as £390 (retail) now
Looking for similar, 27" 1440p monitor to replace my 24" 144mhz Benq XL2411T as main monitor.
That with 3070 or AMD card depending on what happens with them this month and availability!
