The vote is pretty much split I think, people with good things to say about both cities, makes it hard to decide.
Then pick Plymouth on account of the fact its cheaper

I think in Plym you have to look to find the nice places whereas in Exeter you have to look to find the scummy ones (Burnthouse Lane anyone?). Plus Exeter's generally better on the transport links (Plymouth being 40 minutes more remote). Plymouth wins on the things to do front tho, much better nightlife/gigs/cinemas/restaurants etc.
Most ridiculous claim in this thread.
Barnstaple > Bideford![]()

Probably true, Barnstaple people are more inbred though.

Glad I wasn't born in Barnstaple then and just moved here
Tiverton is the inbred land!

I used to live in Bideford and work in Barnstaple![]()
Interesting.
Where'd you work out of curiosity?
Always think that Bideford/Barnstaples such a small place no one from there or had lived there would be on here.

I don't live down there any more dude, far too quiet for me![]()

"mighty Grecians."
That's why I slapped in had lived there
I agree though - it's a bit of a slow life really. Just potters on by. Much prefer it to being in Exeter/Plym though.
They don't feel like great cities to me.
