Looking to Move, Exeter or Plymouth?

Exeter wins for me. I've lived in both and, being Cornish, am hated in both places so I'm unbiased 
I think in Plym you have to look to find the nice places whereas in Exeter you have to look to find the scummy ones (Burnthouse Lane anyone?). Plus Exeter's generally better on the transport links (Plymouth being 40 minutes more remote). Plymouth wins on the things to do front tho, much better nightlife/gigs/cinemas/restaurants etc.

Lying on the internet isn't cool.
Plymouth is RAF, there's no arguing anything else. Since the amount of work in the docks reduced on top of general financial situation there are a lot of people on the rock and roll, which from what I've seen makes for plenty of areas resembling downtown Basra.
My gran lives there in what is an OK area (Keyham), and yet there is a topless pub that was featured on that salubrious cornerstone of family viewing which is Danny Dyer's "Rough Pubs" less than 5 mins walk from her house!!

Granted there are bad areas in every city (Birmingham being a prime example!!) but given the size of Plymouth compared to other cities there appears to be a lot of areas that you wouldn't want to park your car proportionally for the size of the town.

Plymouth!! I'm in London now and miss surfing, rock climbing and beach trips in the summer. I also miss being able to walk into town and back.

Always think that Bideford/Barnstaples such a small place no one from there or had lived there would be on here.

Unbelievable, you have a premiership rugby side playing fantastic rugby in your city and you make a statement like that.

They're not Cities, they're bid towns in Devon, they can't even do hard drugs properly.

Spent a lot of time in both, visiting and living, spent a lot of time studying in both. Although I don't think I've been to Exeter since they redeveloped the city centre shopping area

So I dont just over a year here in Plymouth as housemates dictated the choice. It's been a great city IMO. But we are going our seperate ways now and I figured I'll give Exeter a try now just for a change!
