Looking to move on from cds and need some advice

I have generally just had music by playing cds in the house- in fact I've only just really got onto spotify. Our lounge hi-fi has given up the ghost and like those people who last built a pc 10 years ago I have no idea what to get currently. Is the best way to use my iphone to play via bluetooth or do hi-fis do it themselves now? What would be the best ones to look at if uyou're using spotify - preferably £250 and lower? Thanks

I think we'd want to keep the cd option really. I kind of want an all in one unit really - I'm not a mega hi-fi nerd just want decent sound. Not going to shake the rafters. The previous speakers are good but they're of the 'stick wire in and clamp' variety and a lot of these seem to have proper plugs. How diff is it to add plugs to it?

Yeah add banana plugs to existing cables I meant. It's not massively important - tbh - I could just do with what the best solution (and price creep here) for a streaming setup for c£400 inc cd capability

Too much choice perhaps? Certainly if someone could spec me a setup it would help - not least in terms of what I should get so it'll all work together.

Thanks all for the different advice - so many different ways to go! On a different note my car is old and only has an aux which doesn’t seem to work with spotify. It did work with tracks downloaded onto the phone. So is there a similar Bluetooth receiver people would recommend to get it working?

Yeah it didn’t work with either my or my wife’s car and the phone suggested it wasn’t compatible - weird

The radio is the High Performance \Sound system in a Volvo V70 - the cable worked ok when I had music files onthe phone - wondered if there was some setting I had wrong on the iphone. If I plug in and play something it just plays on the phone speakers and a message came up on the phone that it wasn't compatible.

So I’m now thinking I might use whatever it is with the TV too and utilise the old speakers. The two main options seem to be these:

I’d be using two speakers with it. What do people think? Are there better options? Thanks

Edit - if I did go I the whole hog and ditch the cd is there a better option? Keen for it to be good with streaming
