looky what i found -virgin media related

i'll definitely upgrade as soon as it's available, i don't care if it's a tenner or so more per month. I'd say it's almost certain to have a much higher upload as well! can't wait to download at ~11 megabytes per second!! :D

This is what I was told by both the call center and the engineer when mine was installed.

I too will downgrade to 20Mb (maybe even 10Mb) if they add traffic shaping and/or limits to 50Mb.

So you will move to a connection with even more harsh STM? And have you even considered that the STM on 50Mb may be high enough that it won't effect you? Unless you download 24/7 at max speed, then chances are STM will rarely be an issue.

I was told on the phone by a virgin media sales person when I ordered my 50mb that the 100mb upgrade would be free so where does that leave them legally then ?
In the clear. Where's your proof of what was said? VM sales teams and 'engineers' know very little to nothing about upcoming products, and spouting off crap would hardly be a new experience for them.

Well they must sing from the hymn sheet given to them so I presumed they'd have to back it up.
lets see what happens most likely be around £15 more per month for 100mb though.

I'm going to imagine 50MB is going to be hit with traffic shaping but no one knows its just guess work. I'll be upgrading as long as its within a tenner a month but gone are the days when they automatically upgraded you for free so I wouldnt hold out for news on that.
I had my 50mb fitted a couple of months ago and the guy said the 100mb will use the same modem, its out in some areas now and some lucky customers are getting it for free as we speak whilst they test, they dont even know it unless they run a speed test, he said it will be rolled out to all major cities etc in the new year, take that info as you will.

I had 50mb put in on Saturday. The engineer said that 100mb customers will need a new modem to take the speed increase. I hope we don't have to have another modem. I'm really happy with 50mb but would like to go even faster with 100mb.

It's a seperate service because the engineer i spoke to 2 weeks ago who had been involved in the testing said that 100Mb will also come with a 10Mb upload speed and the trials have been going very well. He also said that 50Mb customer could also see their upload speed increased depending on how well the 100Mb service does.

TBH virgin will upgrade most customers for free for a set amount of time mine was upgraded from 20 mb to 50 mb for 6 months for free. Ho hum i'm hoping they keep the 50mb package unlimited and not force you to upgrade to 100Mb

If you have 50mb i dont think you need an engineer, as the 50mb cable modem can run at 250mb, thats what the engineer told me, when he installed mine from 20mb to 50mb.

I really hope that is true. If thats the case we may well get the update for free as they won't need to dish anymore modems out. Has anyone got a potential date for when we could start to see 100mb being rolled out?

Loving 50mb but 100mb.......wow......

Feel so sorry for my father-in-law, fatest broadband he can get is 3mb :( :D
